The University of Maine System (UMS) is Maine’s public higher-education system made up of seven campuses across the state — including the University of Maine (Orono), University of Southern Maine, and the University of Maine at Augusta, Farmington, Fort Kent, Machias, and Presque Isle — offering undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. UMS advances teaching, research, and public service with a focus on workforce development, applied research (e.g., marine science, forestry, engineering, health), and community engagement that support Maine’s economy and communities. The system office coordinates governance, tuition and financial aid, statewide initiatives, online learning, and partnerships with industry and K–12 education to expand access and drive regional innovation.
