About this role

The AE Defense – Component Design Engineer is responsible for the mechanical design of components like gears, gearboxes, and shafts for gas turbine engines. The role involves creating robust design definitions, supporting supply chain efforts, conducting hardware condition assessments, and interfacing with internal and external customers. Engineers will utilize advanced design tools and methodologies to optimize hardware solutions within the AE Program.

Responsibilities

Design mechanical components for gas turbine engines including gears and shafts
Create robust design definitions meeting sub-system requirements and product attributes
Support supply chain efforts including hardware procurement and DAR execution
Lead root cause and corrective action teams for hardware investigations
Optimize hardware concepts using trade studies across gears, shafting, and structures
