About this role

The Anaesthesia Assistant serves as an integral member of the Perioperative team at IWK Health, collaborating closely with the Department of Anesthesia to assist Anaesthesiologists in all aspects of patient care. This role involves monitoring patients and providing perioperative support across the Gynecology/Breast Health, OR/PACU, and Birth Unit settings. The position requires providing technical support for procedures such as awake intubations, difficult airways, emergency situations, and Epidural care.

Responsibilities

Assist the Anaesthesiologist in all aspects of anesthesia care
Monitor patients and provide perioperative support in Gynecology/Breast Health, OR/PACU, and Birth Unit
Provide technical support preparing for patients undergoing anesthesia care including assisting with awake intubations and difficult airways

Skills

Qualifications

Diploma/Degree in Respiratory TherapyBachelor’s Degree in NursingAnesthesia Assistant Certification/DiplomaRegistered with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists (NSCRT) OR Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (BLS) Program
