Assistant Attorney General

The Office of the Attorney General is seeking a full-time appellate attorney to handle sophisticated and complex child protection appeals, primarily in the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. The role involves writing 60 to 80 briefs annually, performing live-streamed oral arguments, and occasionally responding to petitions in the United States Supreme Court. This position requires balancing a child's right to safety, a parent's fundamental rights, and the State's interests in ensuring children are free from abuse and neglect.
