Friends of the Children — Austin is a nonprofit that provides long‑term, one‑to‑one professional mentoring for youth facing systemic adversity in the Austin area. Its salaried mentors build consistent relationships with children over many years (from kindergarten through high school) to improve academic, social, and life outcomes and to interrupt cycles related to foster care, mental health challenges, and poverty. The chapter works with community partners and relies on donors, events, and volunteers to fund and support its programs.
