The Billing and Claims Specialist I manages claim processes, including accurate and timely claim creation, follow-up, and correspondence with providers and insurance inquiries. The role involves processing paper and electronic claims, working with claim edits, and resolving payer rejections to maximize revenues and minimize denials. This position requires strong knowledge of medical billing practices, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.

Responsibilities

Prepare and submit clean claims to third-party payers electronically or by paper
Analyze and resolve claim submission edits and payor rejections using CMS rules and coding guidelines
Manage denial follow-up and resolve payer rejections, ICN errors, and retro review assignments
