The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) is the statutory regulator for physicians in BC, responsible for protecting the public by ensuring safe, competent and ethical medical practice. It assesses and issues physician licences, sets standards of practice and professional conduct, and manages continuing competence and quality-assurance programs. The College investigates complaints, conducts disciplinary hearings, and has authority to restrict, suspend or revoke privileges when care falls below required standards. It also publishes guidance, policies and resources for both physicians and the public to promote patient safety and trust in the medical profession.
