About this role
The Opportunity Alliance is hiring Center Aides in Portland, ME to support Head Start classrooms serving children ages 3-5. The program emphasizes school readiness through high-quality, culturally responsive early education and strong family engagement, with a focus on social-emotional development. These are seasonal, full-time positions (32 or 40 hours per week, 44 weeks per year) based in Portland or South Portland.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (or actively pursuing high school, GED, or CDA equivalent within 2 years of hire)
- CDA Credential Program (or enrollment with completion within 2 years)
- 1 Year of Center-Based Teaching/Early Childhood-Related Experience (preferred)
- 1 Year of Food Preparation & Service Experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of Culture's Role in Child & Family Development
- Demonstrated Ability to Work Effectively with Teams
- Commitment to Social Justice and Head Start Mission
- Criminal Background Check, Child Protective Services Check, and Sex Offender Check (must not be on suspension/disbarment list)
- Pre-employment Physical and TB Screen; Immunizations (MMR and TDAP) current
- Ability to Exert Physical Effort (lift up to 25 pounds)
