Certified Assessor

The Certified Assessor determines equitable appraisal values and classifications for all property types in assigned areas for tax assessment purposes, adhering to Minnesota Statutes and standardized appraisal practices. The role involves physically inspecting properties, analyzing sales data, maintaining assessment records, and establishing defendable market values. The position requires communicating with the public, processing specialty tax applications, and defending assessment decisions at Board of Review meetings or in court. The incumbent may also train Assessor Trainees and research valuation benchmarks for mass appraisal work.
