About this role

The Citizen Engagement Fellowship is a part-time, six-month program designed for experienced professionals in international democracy and governance. Participants will contribute their expertise to strengthen democratic practices in the U.S., working remotely and collaborating with Issue One on various projects related to election integrity, civic engagement, and government accountability.

Issue One is a nonpartisan, Washington, D.C.–based reform organization focused on strengthening American democracy by reducing the influence of money in politics, combating corruption, and improving transparency and ethics in government. The group produces research and policy proposals, leads advocacy campaigns, and builds coalitions of civic leaders and former elected officials to push for reforms like stronger campaign‑finance rules, independent redistricting, and better congressional ethics enforcement. Issue One also runs public‑facing initiatives, provides data and reporting to journalists and policymakers, and conducts legislative outreach to advance bipartisan reform at the federal and state levels. It is known for convening former officials through its ReFormers Caucus and for helping translate research into practical policy action.
