About this role

Milwaukee County Transit System is seeking apprentices for a 13-month registered program to train as bus operators, providing classroom and hands-on instruction from experienced mentors. Participants will obtain their CDL, learn to safely operate passenger buses, and deliver excellent customer service to Milwaukee County communities. Upon successful completion, apprentices will receive a Journey worker’s card issued by the State of Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

Safely operate transit bus in compliance with policies and traffic laws
Collect fares and provide accurate information to passengers
Perform vehicle inspections and report defects before and after shifts

Skills

Qualifications

Valid Class D Wisconsin driver’s license (non-probationary) for at least one (1) year prior to the date of applicationValid CDL Class B License with “P” Endorsement with no Air Brake restriction (or valid CDL permit 14 days prior to start date or transfer date)
