About this role

The Astera Institute seeks a contract Computational Chemistry/Theory Consultant to develop molecular‑simulation and electrostatic models for a nanoscale actuator, predict experimental observables such as FRET distances and force‑voltage behavior, and provide comparison reports to guide design iterations. The role works closely with design and device‑physics leads, applying expertise in interfacial electrostatics and nanomechanics.

Responsibilities

Model electrostatic actuation of DNA‑origami plate
Model nanomechanical stiffness and modes of actuator components
Predict single‑molecule fluorescence and structural geometry
Generate prediction‑versus‑measurement comparison reports
Collaborate with design and device‑physics leads on iterations
