Computational Nonlinear Optical Physicist

The Computational Nonlinear Optical Physicist will develop and refine advanced computational modeling tools for high-intensity laser beam propagation in gases and plasmas to support Xcimer’s inertial fusion energy drivers. The role focuses on designing and validating physical models of stimulated Raman and Brillouin scattering under Xcimer-specific conditions. It is central to the staged design of multi-megajoule-scale laser amplifiers and pulse compressors and involves close collaboration with engineering teams to transition models into built and tested hardware. This position directly contributes to the development of commercially viable inertial fusion energy systems.
