As the Data Science Director for Pricing & Underwriting at The Cigna Group, you will lead high-impact teams to build and evolve machine learning models that drive risk selection, forecasting, and underwriting effectiveness. This role combines technical excellence with strategic leadership to partner across actuarial, sales, and technology teams, ensuring accurate, explainable, and operationally reliable data-driven insights for healthcare decisions.

Responsibilities

Lead strategy and development of machine learning models for pricing and underwriting decisions
Establish and improve model lifecycle practices including validation, monitoring, and governance
Partner with actuarial and business teams to embed model outputs into decision frameworks
Translate complex analytical concepts into clear business insights for senior stakeholders
Build and develop a high-performing data science organization through coaching and talent development

Skills

Qualifications

Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Actuarial Science10+ years of experience in data science and advanced analytics5+ years of experience leading technical teams for production-grade analytics
