About this role

The Deck Cadet is responsible for the safe navigation of ships and safe cargo handling operations under the supervision of a licensed deck officer. The role involves learning and performing deck officer duties, participating in watchkeeping, mooring, and cargo operations, and gaining familiarity with seamanship, navigation, and vessel administration to become eligible for a U.S. Coast Guard Third Mate license. Cadets are expected to proactively seek growth opportunities and adhere to all safety and compliance programs.

Responsibilities

Perform safe navigation and cargo handling operations under supervision
Stand bridge and cargo watches to learn watch requirements and routines
Participate in mooring operations, cargo hose connection, and tank cleaning
