Designated Institutional Official (DIO)

The Designated Institutional Official (DIO) serves as the senior executive responsible for the strategic leadership, administration, oversight, and continuous improvement of Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs within Saint Vincent hospital. Acting on behalf of the Sponsoring Institution, the DIO ensures compliance with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Institutional, Common, and Specialty-Specific Program Requirements while fostering a culture of educational excellence, innovation, quality, safety, professionalism, and trainee well-being. The DIO serves as the institutional authority for graduate medical education and is accountable for the oversight of residency and fellowship programs, accreditation activities, academic governance, financial stewardship, faculty development, trainee affairs, and institutional learning environment initiatives.
