Algomus is a research team in Algorithmic Musicology / Music Information Retrieval based at CRIStAL, Université de Lille (Hauts‑de‑France) that studies high‑level modeling, analysis, and co‑creative transformation and generation of music. The group works mainly with symbolic musical data (scores, tablatures, chord grids) and tonal repertoires to model melody, harmony, rhythm and musical structure, combining musicological knowledge with explainable ML/AI methods rather than black‑box systems. Algomus publishes open methods and datasets (many on GitLab), runs the Dezrann platform for sharing music analysis, and engages in collaborations with musicians, educators and artists (notably projects like ANR MICCDroP and partnerships with Holly Herndon). The team also emphasizes ethics and diversity in corpora and builds tools for pedagogy, co‑creative composition, arrangement, and human–machine improvisation.
