Proxima Fusion
As a Divertor Physicist at Proxima Fusion, you will be instrumental in modeling and designing divertors for stellarators, essential for sustaining fusion-relevant conditions by effectively managing plasma exhaust and impurities. This role involves developing theoretical and computational models, collaborating with engineers to ensure design compatibility, and leading R&D projects aligned with future fusion reactor performance. Your expertise in simulation modeling, high-heat-flux systems, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and Fortran will contribute to advancing commercially viable fusion power.
Proxima Fusion is Europe's fastest-growing fusion startup, building the first generation of fusion power plants using quasi-isodynamic (QI) stellarators—the clearest path to putting fusion on the grid. The company leverages decades of research in magnetic confinement fusion, combining advances in stellarator optimization, computational design, and high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology with the expertise behind the record-breaking Wendelstein 7-X stellarator at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. As the first-ever spin-out from the Max Planck IPP, Proxima Fusion is leading Europe into a new era of clean, safe, and abundant fusion energy.
