Ameren Illinois is seeking an Electrical Mechanic Apprentice to perform substation maintenance, construction activities, and equipment troubleshooting. Tasks include working with circuit breakers, transformers, and battery systems, while responding to emergency callouts and filling one-man truck duties. The role requires residency within 25 miles of the operating center and adherence to IBEW bargaining agreement apprenticeship requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform substation maintenance and construction project activities
Troubleshoot AC and DC control circuits and voltage regulators
Test and maintain AC battery chargers and DC battery systems
Respond to emergent substation problems and emergency callouts
Repair or replace failed substation apparatus

Skills

Qualifications

Associates degree in electronics or electrical engineering technologyClass A Commercial Driver's License with combination vehicle and tanker endorsementAbility to obtain and maintain construction & skilled trades (CAST) TestENEW apprenticeship requirementsMust meet residency requirement of 25 miles from operating center
