About this role

The Executive Director, Manufacturing Operations leads the global external manufacturing network for Vertex's Type 1 Diabetes cell therapy programs. This senior role ensures strategy, governance, and operational oversight of Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) to support clinical development and commercialization while maintaining the highest quality and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

Define and execute external manufacturing strategies aligned with pipeline goals
Build and govern a resilient global network of contract manufacturing sites
Oversee tech transfer, process validation, and lifecycle management across facilities
Ensure full GMP compliance and regulatory readiness for inspections
Integrate CMOs into the end-to-end supply chain and manage budgets
