About this role
The Head of Communications is a senior leader within Marketing & Communications who shapes organizational communication and brand direction to advance PLOS’s mission in open science. The role partners with executive leadership to define long-term communication and market strategies and ensures organizational visibility and impact across scholarly publishing. This is a fully remote senior leadership role reporting to the Executive Director, Marketing & Communications.

It publishes a portfolio of peer-reviewed journals across the life and health sciences (including PLOS ONE, PLOS Biology, and PLOS Medicine) and champions policies like open data, reproducibility, and transparency in peer review. In addition to publishing, PLOS develops tools, advocacy, and institutional partnerships to lower barriers to sharing research, speed dissemination, and increase the societal impact of science.
