Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness
The Healthy Living Educator promotes culturally centered health and wellness initiatives that uplift Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and community strengths within Wabanaki communities. This role involves developing and delivering programming focused on healthy eating, active living, and commercial tobacco prevention while collaborating with Tribal staff, Elders, and community partners. The position is based in the Mi'kmaq, Presque Isle Community and requires a flexible schedule to accommodate occasional weekend and evening events.
Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness is a nonprofit public health organization focused on "cultivating the health of our communities" by delivering culturally grounded health promotion, disease prevention, and wellness services for Wabanaki peoples. It works with tribal governments, community partners, and health systems to support programs across behavioral and physical health, chronic disease prevention, maternal and child health, substance-use response, and public-health preparedness. WPHW centers Indigenous knowledge and community-driven approaches, offering outreach, education, training, and policy advocacy to strengthen resilience and access to care. The organization also shares resources and updates through its website and social channels to support local public-health efforts.
