About this role

The Quail group at EMBL Heidelberg seeks a highly motivated biochemist or biophysicist to join as a Laboratory Officer, focusing on single-molecule biophysics, in vitro biochemistry, and cell biology to study protein and genome organization. This primarily wet-lab role involves supporting protein biochemistry workflows, developing single-molecule measurements, and handling lab management while assisting students and postdoctoral fellows. The position offers an opportunity to push the boundaries of single-molecule biophysics in a collaborative, fast-moving research environment.

Responsibilities

Establish and optimize in vitro protein biochemistry workflows
Design and perform single-molecule experiments using optical tweezers and TIRF microscopy
Analyze quantitative experimental data using Python and MATLAB
