PHNX Materials
PHNX Materials is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer to develop and scale metal extraction processes in a hands-on pilot plant environment. The role involves working closely with R&D and process engineering teams to design flowsheets, run experimental campaigns, and solve real-world metallurgical problems across hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical unit operations. This position reports to the CTO and contributes to taking processes from bench results to pilot operation and scale-up recommendations.
PHNX Materials is a clean-technology company that refines industrial waste streams — primarily landfilled coal ash — into critical materials for the semiconductor, building materials, and agriculture industries. The company extracts high-value metals and compounds including gallium, germanium, silicon, titanium, aluminum, and rare-earth elements from billions of tons of domestic industrial byproducts. PHNX aims to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign suppliers, particularly China, by reshoring domestic critical material supply chains essential to semiconductors, defense, and advanced manufacturing.
