Elgin Math and Science Academy (EMSA) is a tuition-free public charter school in Elgin focused on rigorous, hands-on math and science education for local students. The school uses EL Education’s project-based approach and a learner-centered philosophy that emphasizes inquiry, real-world learning, and strong student supports on a campus that highlights the natural environment. EMSA centers equity and community through its JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) commitments, active family engagement, and governance by an involved board, and it enrolls students through a public lottery and open admissions process.
