Nursing Student-Med Surg Tech (MST)

The Medical Surgical Technician (MST) role is part of a transition-to-practice pathway designed to bridge the experience-competency gap for new graduate registered nurses. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the MST performs patient care, respiratory functions, and unit duties while documenting patient data and anticipating patient needs. This position supports licensed nurses by managing ancillary testing, maintaining patient safety, and adhering to hospital protocols and standards.
