About this role

The Optician supports ophthalmologists and orthoptists in selecting and fitting contact lenses and eyewear for patients according to medical prescriptions. Responsibilities include educating patients on lens care, maintaining inventory of optical supplies and contact lenses, and managing patient records. The role requires collaboration with the medical team to ensure visual acuity and ocular health needs are met.

Responsibilities

Measure fit and adapt lenses and frames for clients according to prescriptions
Instruct patients on proper contact lens insertion and removal techniques
Maintain inventory of contact lenses and disinfectants to prevent shortages
Enter patient data and update medical charts in computer systems
Calculate charges, insurance discounts, and maintain cash receipts daily

Skills

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GEDOptician Certification (Preferred within first year)
