## Paraprofessional Level 2 **Location:** Anthem Elementary **Department:** Exceptional Student Support Services (ESS) ### Summary The Paraprofessional Level 2 provides assistance in the supervision and instruction of students with mild, moderate, or severe special needs under the guidance of a certificated teacher. Duties include observing and documenting student progress, implementing instructional plans, and assisting students with physical, behavioral, and adaptive requirements. ### Reports To Site Administrator / ESS Director ### FLSA Status Non‑Exempt ### Education & Experience - High School Diploma or GED (required) - Either: - Associate’s degree or higher **or** - Completed 60+ credit hours at an accredited college **or** - Passing score on an Arizona Department of Education paraprofessional approved assessment *Additional requirements:* General computer skills, ability to read and follow directions, effective written and verbal communication, teamwork, reliability, punctuality, flexibility, professional demeanor, and adherence to dress code. ### Essential Duties & Responsibilities | Category | Responsibilities | |----------|------------------| | **Collaborative Support** | • Work with special‑education teacher, administration, general‑education teachers, parents, therapists, and students to implement IEP goals and accommodations.
• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials under teacher direction.
• Collect and record data on IEP goals.
• Create visual aids as directed. | | **Daily Living & Adaptive Support** | • Assist students with eating, dressing, grooming, toileting, transfers, positioning, mobility, and use of assistive devices. | | **Therapeutic Assistance** | • Support therapists during sessions and carry over therapy routines.
• Implement behavioral plans.
• Assist with alternative/augmentative communication and assistive technology. | | **Safety & Supervision** | • Supervise students during drills, assemblies, recess, lunch, and field trips.
• Participate in data recording/reporting (e.g., MIPS, Teaching Strategies Gold). | | **Record Keeping & Clerical Functions** | • Perform daily data entry, copy instructional materials, correct student work, and maintain records.
• Maintain Non‑violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification if required. | | **Emergency Response** | • Respond to injuries, fights, or other immediate safety concerns.
• Protect confidential student information. | | **Other Functions** | • Direct parent inquiries to supervisors.
• Assist personnel as needed.
• Attend site/district meetings and in‑service trainings.
• Support substitute teachers.
• Report suspected substance use, child abuse, or dangerous situations.
