Peer Support Specialist

The Peer Support Specialist works with the Asheville Fire Department-Resource Engagement Support Team to provide proactive, trauma-informed support to unsheltered individuals and those affected by the opioid epidemic. The role involves outreach to non-traditional settings, linking individuals to community resources for mental health, housing, and substance use treatment, and educating both clients and the community on harm reduction. The specialist also handles data entry, crisis de-escalation, and advocacy while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
