About this role

MODE Japan is seeking a People Operations partner to deeply understand the Tokyo organization and drive its growth while preserving its unique culture amidst a complex US-Japan business environment. This role acts as a trusted advisor to all members, bridges communication between the Tokyo and San Francisco offices, and manages the full employee lifecycle including compliance and HRIS operations. The position offers significant autonomy and serves as a stepping stone toward becoming a full-scale HR Generalist for the Japanese business.

Responsibilities

Serve as the trusted people partner for MODE Japan members on all organizational matters.
Bridge communication between Tokyo and San Francisco teams by translating context and culture.
Manage full employee lifecycle including onboarding, performance reviews, and compliance.
Design and launch new HR programs to support scaling without losing cultural distinctiveness.
Use data from surveys and benchmarks to drive people decisions rather than opinions.
