Tyndall National Institute
The PhD project focuses on developing novel multiparameter electrochemical sensor platforms for continuous inline monitoring of bioprocess parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and metabolites. The work involves sensor biofunctionalisation, integration into a compact probe, and validation in small‑scale bioreactor systems, aiming to generate high‑impact publications and new insights into process heterogeneity.
Tyndall National Institute is Ireland’s largest deep‑tech research centre, hosted by University College Cork, specialising in ICT, photonics, micro‑/nano‑electronics and advanced materials. It partners with industry, academia and government to translate fundamental research into commercial products and services, supporting spinouts, collaborative projects and technology transfer. Tyndall provides advanced fabrication, prototyping and testing facilities plus specialist expertise in sensors, semiconductor technologies and flexible electronics to accelerate innovation and skills development.
