Police Captain

This role serves as a second-level supervisory classification for professional law enforcement, overseeing the Field Services or Administrative Services Division of the Police Department. The incumbent provides supervision, training, and management for assigned staff while performing complex law enforcement and crime prevention work. The position assumes command of the department in the absence of the Police Chief and ensures the delivery of law enforcement services through community-based and traditional policing programs.
