Principal Molding Engineer

As a Principal Molding Engineer within Abbott's Core Diagnostics Division in Lake Forest, IL, the role leads mold design activities and manages the full life cycle of molded plastic parts for medical devices. The engineer serves as a subject matter expert in plastic injection and blow molding processes, driving implementation of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) while ensuring compliance with FDA and ISO regulations. Responsibilities include capacity analysis, supplier management, project controls, and mentoring junior team members to support strategic engineering objectives.
