About this role

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Principal Scientist to join the Vertex Manufacturing Center Kilo Lab, focusing on drug substance development through analytical and preparative chromatographic purification. This dual-capability role involves leading method development, executing complex purification campaigns, and establishing lab infrastructure for kilo-scale cGMP operations. The position also includes supporting scale-up efforts, building peptide and oligonucleotide purification capabilities, and mentoring scientific staff.

Responsibilities

Lead preparative chromatography method development and scale-up across R&D and cGMP environments
Execute and troubleshoot complex purification campaigns for small molecule drug substances
Establish and maintain kilo-lab infrastructure including equipment procurement and system qualification

Skills

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related disciplineM.S. or B.S. with extensive relevant industry experience
