The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the U.S. federal public health agency responsible for protecting Americans from health, safety, and security threats at home and abroad. It conducts disease surveillance and research, issues guidance on prevention and control (including vaccination, infectious diseases, chronic conditions, and environmental hazards), and leads outbreak response and public health preparedness.
