About this role

The Radar Systems Operator maintains and operates Relocatable Over The Horizon Radars to track aircraft and ships for the U.S. Navy in Chesapeake, Virginia. This onsite role requires 24/7 monitoring of surface and air contacts, ionosphere propagation assessment, and interpreting radar returns via PC-based platforms. Candidates must hold an active DoD Secret security clearance and possess technical school training in radar operations.

Responsibilities

Operate ROTHR RADAR systems to monitor surface and air contacts
Perform ionosphere propagation assessments using PC-based modeling resources
Select and assign radar frequencies based on ionospheric conditions
Monitor external HF radio links for tactical communications
Validate and report aircraft and surface contacts within coverage area
