About this role

The Registered Practical Nurse provides clinical support and direct care to patients with serious medical conditions on the CTU Medicine Unit (E3), a clinical teaching unit within the Seniors, Emergency, and Community Medicine Program. The role involves assessing care needs, implementing healthcare plans, and reporting changes in patient status in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team. This position supports a primarily geriatric patient population with multi-system chronic illnesses.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical support and direct nursing care to patients
Assess patient care needs and implement healthcare plans
Report changes in patient status to the interdisciplinary team

Skills

Qualifications

Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical NurseBasic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificationcertificates or current community college studies in asepsis, wound care, airway management, complex wound care, patient assessment, urinary catheterization, administering enteral feeds, Medication administration, transcribing ordersDocumented completion of a recognized IV course that includes IV medication administration, venipuncture and blood and blood product administration
