About this role

As a Risk & Resilience Modeler, you will build and validate loss models that connect physical climate hazards to financial risk for global investors, insurers, and property owners. Working alongside science teams, you will use engineering principles, statistics, and machine learning to quantify impacts from floods, wildfires, and windstorms on structures and infrastructure. This role requires translating complex data into decision-useful outcomes that enable clients to assess exposure and the return on investment for property protections.

Responsibilities

Develop custom loss models representing impacts to structures and infrastructure assets globally
Create models of structure damage, repair time, and indirect impacts using first principles
Analyze historical loss data to improve model accuracy and identify quality control issues
Perform statistical analysis to validate loss model predictions and assess uncertainties
Analyze building codes and exposure datasets to inform loss model sections

Skills

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Operations Research, or related fieldMaster's degree with 3 years of relevant experience
