About this role

This role serves as the highest authority real-time desk operator for American Electric Power, overseeing the safe and reliable operation of the bulk electric system across various RTO regions. The incumbent maintains acceptable voltage levels, coordinates congestion relief, and executes emergency actions such as load shedding to prevent system violations. They are responsible for complying with NERC Reliability Standards, managing facility outages, and directing reliability activities for Shift Control Center (SCC) associates.
