Essie Justice is a community organization and advocacy group that supports women who have incarcerated loved ones, offering peer support, resources, and education to help families navigate the criminal legal system. The group centers lived experience and storytelling to build a “loving & powerful” network while raising awareness about the unequal burden of incarceration—highlighting that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 2 Black women have a family member in prison. Essie Justice organizes online community-building, resource guides, events, and advocacy campaigns to connect members with emotional support, practical information, and pathways for civic change. Its work focuses on dignity, healing, and transforming the systems that harm impacted families and communities.
