About this role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Structures) will own the structural architecture, design, analysis, and qualification of solar array hardware for Starlight's space solar power systems. This role involves leading technical decisions, resolving complex design challenges, and mentoring engineers to support the mission of enabling human life on the Moon and Mars. The position requires a strong background in structural mechanics and experience with lightweight space structures.

Responsibilities

Own structural systems from architecture through detailed design, analysis, fabrication, qualification, and flight
Perform and review hand calculations and FEA covering stress, stiffness, buckling, fatigue, joints, thermal distortion, modal response, and dynamic environments
Lead structural design reviews, failure investigations, risk-reduction efforts, and corrective actions

Skills

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, structural engineering, or a related discipline
