Proxima Fusion
The Senior Plasma Physicist at Proxima Fusion is responsible for leading the design and development of critical components for a net-energy stellarator, contributing to research in magnetic confinement fusion. This role involves conceptualizing requirements for heating systems and divertors, enhancing physics and engineering simulations, and mentoring team members. The position requires a PhD in Plasma Physics or a related field, with expertise in areas such as core transport or plasma heating, and emphasizes collaboration with public institutions to accelerate advancements in fusion technology.
Proxima Fusion is Europe's fastest-growing fusion startup, building the first generation of fusion power plants using quasi-isodynamic (QI) stellarators—the clearest path to putting fusion on the grid. The company leverages decades of research in magnetic confinement fusion, combining advances in stellarator optimization, computational design, and high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology with the expertise behind the record-breaking Wendelstein 7-X stellarator at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. As the first-ever spin-out from the Max Planck IPP, Proxima Fusion is leading Europe into a new era of clean, safe, and abundant fusion energy.
