About this role

The Senior Scientist will provide strategic scientific leadership for the implementation of CIP's Medium-Term Science Plan and CIP2030 across China and the Asia-Pacific region through the China Center for Asia Pacific (CCCAP). The role focuses on strengthening the crop improvement portfolio for potato and sweetpotato by fostering partnerships, promoting innovation in breeding and biotechnology, and facilitating knowledge exchange to address regional agricultural priorities. Additionally, the position leads stakeholder engagement, resource mobilization, and collaboration among national research organizations, universities, and government agencies to enhance CCCAP's role as a regional platform for scientific collaboration.

Responsibilities

Lead strategic planning and implementation of potato and sweetpotato breeding research agendas
Develop and manage strategic partnerships with national and international research organizations
Oversee multidisciplinary research initiatives integrating genetics, genomics, and breeding methodologies
