A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) at ThedaCare provides specialized, trauma-informed and forensic nursing care to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, strangulation, and child abuse who present to the emergency department. The role supports medical intervention and coordinated forensic evidence collection to aid patient care and legal prosecution. SANEs serve patients of all ages and genders and work on an on-call basis within the emergency department.
