About this role

The City Court is seeking a qualified attorney to serve as a Special Magistrate, appointed by the City Council for a two-year term. This part-time, on-site role involves presiding over civil and criminal proceedings, issuing legal instruments, and conducting legal research under the supervision of the Presiding Magistrate. The position requires a member in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona and at least five years of legal experience.

Responsibilities

Preside over and adjudicate civil traffic, criminal traffic, misdemeanor, domestic violence, and municipal code cases
Issue legal instruments including search and arrest warrants, summonses, subpoenas, and sentencing documents
Conduct legal research to support rulings, ensure compliance, and interpret statutes and case law
