Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform that helps creators raise money to bring creative projects to life across categories like art, design, film, games, music, and technology. Creators run time‑limited campaigns offering tiered rewards while backers pledge funds in exchange — Kickstarter is best known for its all‑or‑nothing funding model. Founded in 2009 and organized as a public benefit corporation, it provides discovery tools, community exposure, and campaign resources, taking a platform fee plus payment processing fees on successful projects. Independent creators and small teams use Kickstarter to validate ideas, launch products, and build early audiences.
