About this role

The Substance Abuse Counselor provides direct care services to patients with mental, emotional, and substance abuse issues, working closely with the treatment team to fulfill the interdisciplinary treatment process for patients with a dual diagnosis. This includes developing and conducting program activities for education and treatment related to substance abuse, as well as providing individual and group counseling sessions. The counselor is responsible for patient assessment and the development and implementation of Recovery Plans, within the company's standards.

Responsibilities

Conduct group and individual substance abuse counseling sessions
Assess patients for co-occurring disorders and determine level of care
Develop and implement Recovery Plans for patients

Skills

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social services related fieldCertified in the substance abuse fieldLicensed in an addiction counseling specialty (Certified Addiction Counselor, Registered Addiction Counselor, Certified Addiction Professional (CAP))Certified as a Counselor in Training under supervisionlicensed in social work, counseling or psychology
