UKAEA (UK Atomic Energy Authority / UKAEA Fusion Energy) is the UK’s national fusion research organisation focused on delivering sustainable fusion power and maximising its scientific and economic benefits. It conducts plasma and materials research, operates major programmes and facilities (including MAST Upgrade and hosting JET) and leads the UK STEP programme to develop a prototype fusion power plant. UKAEA works with industry, academia and government to advance engineering, supply‑chain readiness and commercialisation pathways. It also runs training and collaborative initiatives to translate fusion science into scalable low‑carbon energy solutions.
