The Surgical Technologist assists in the preparation and care of surgical patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. The role requires knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and sterile/aseptic technique to support surgeons during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. The technologist helps ready the operating room, prepares patients, and facilitates safe specimen and equipment handling to support quality clinical outcomes.
