About this role

FHI 360 is seeking a Teacher Policy Lead to provide technical direction for teacher policy and workforce reform within an MCC-funded education quality assurance activity in Belize. The role involves leading the development and reform of policies regarding teacher licensing, hiring, appraisal, and promotion, while establishing career pathways and performance-based incentive systems. This position offers overall strategic oversight to strengthen accountability for student learning and improve the Belize Education Management Information System.

Responsibilities

Lead technical implementation of teacher and school leader policy reform
Support development and reform of teacher licensing and certification systems
Establish career pathways and promotion systems linked to performance standards
Revise appraisal systems and implement performance-based incentive structures
Coordinate with ministry departments and unions on sensitive policy reforms

Qualifications

Master's degree in Education Policy or related fieldMinimum 12 years of experience in teacher policy reformDonor-funded education systems strengthening project experienceCaribbean and/or small island developing states experience preferred
